International Symposia on Bone Health (ISBH 2024)
The International Symposia on Bone Health (ISBH-2024), organized by the Translational Immunology, Osteoimmunology & Immunoporosis Lab (TIOIL) at the Department of Biotechnology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, took place on November 9, 2024, at the SET facility. The event successfully hosted over 150 participants from 16 esteemed international and national institutions. The symposium assembled a distinguished panel of experts to discuss a wide array of topics pertinent to bone health, including Primary and Secondary Osteoporosis, Immunoporosis, Osteoimmunology, Osteomicrobiology, Osteometabolism, Osteonutrition, Immunotherapy, Osteotoxicology, the relationship between Infectious Disease and Bone Health, Osteo-omics, Bone Metastasis, and Osteosarcoma. Inaugurated by Prof. Nikhil Tandon, Head, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, AIIMS, New Delhi, the event featured the release of the Abstract Book and the "ISBH-Compendium on Bone Health 2024" by Dr. Taruna Madan, Scientist G & Head, Developmental Research Division from ICMR, New Delhi. This compendium, containing executive summaries and policy recommendations, aims to inform future health decisions in India. Keynote presentations by Prof. Gérard Karsenty from Columbia University, NYC, USA, and Prof. Edward Czerwinski from Jagiellonian University, Poland, highlighted the novel research on Osteocalcin and advancements in osteoporosis treatment, respectively. Plenary talks from distinguished Indian bone biologists showcased innovative developments in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for bone health. The symposium included an engaging poster session where post-doctoral fellows, Ph.D. scholars, and students presented diverse findings. The young researchers were endowed with ISBH-Young Scientist Travel grants and appreciation awards for outstanding poster presentations. ISBH-2024 facilitated dynamic interactions among clinicians, early-career researchers, and established experts, fostering collaboration and innovative approaches in the bone health domain.
